Yes! It's true! The company which manufactures Premarin (Wyeth-Ayerst) has cut back the number of farms it has in production. While is a great thing for the horses - but, it also means that many farmers and their families are losing their source of income. As of October 13, 2003 thousands of pregnant mares have been flooding the market place.

In December 2003, Wyeth annouced yet more cut backs. This time, farms that are in production will be allowed to finish out the year, turn mares out to pasture with foals and NAERIC will again assist with shipping, but this time they will ship foals too!
